Position Description:


We are looking to employ a hard-working and experienced Local Driver to transport freight Between Sterling, IL and Pleasant Prairie, WI.


Truck will be parked at Meiborg Bros Inc. in Rockford, IL.

To be successful as a Local Driver, you should be knowledgeable of road safety regulations and able to maintain concentration for extended periods. Ultimately, an outstanding Local Driver should demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills as well as adhere to all company policies and procedures.


  • 1st Shift START 5:00am - 7:00am

  • 1st Shift END 5:00pm - 7:00pm

  • 1st Shift PAY $1,057.69 paid weekly ($55,000/yr)


  • 2nd Shift START 5:00pm to 7:00pm

  • 2nd Shift END 5:00am - 7:00am

  • 2nd Shift PAY $1,153.84 paid weekly ($60,000/yr)


  • The main commodity on this account is bottled water.  Trucks and Trailers will be account specific.  Trailers have weight gauge scales on them to ensure that these drop and hook loads are legal to pull.


Local Driver Responsibilities


  • Safely transporting freight between Sterling, IL and Pleasant Prairie, WI.

  • Performing truck inspections before and after each trip to ensure that all mechanical systems are in good working order.

  • Carefully planning routes to ensure that deliveries are completed in a timely manner.

  • Maintaining the company truck, which includes washing and cleaning it, checking fluids, monitoring tire pressure, and performing minor repairs as needed.

  • Maintaining a logbook detailing the hours traveled, rest periods, miles covered, stops as well as all fueling, Pre-trip and Post-trip Inspections.

  • Promptly reporting any traffic violations, road accidents, and vehicle breakdowns to management.

  • Notifying the dispatcher and customer of any delay that may affect scheduled delivery times.
     

Local Driver Requirements


  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.

  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

  • A clean driving record.

  • 12 Months experience working as an OTR Driver or Local Driver with 53 foot trailers.

  • Sound knowledge of road safety regulations.

  • The ability to use road maps and GPS devices.

  • The ability to work long hours.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Effective communication skills.
